MALLORCA BUZZ
The knock-on effect of the Icelandic Volcano proved to affect the
industry worldwide, however word on the street is that Mallorca is in
for a kick-ass season. Kate is working on new locations for next month
so watch this space!
CROATIA BUZZ
New Location scouting is
happening
as we speak. The Volcanic eruption in Iceland meant production came to a
halt for about ten days, fortunately the season is only just beginning
and
skies are open once again. Plan B is to take the highway - the
distance from Hamburg to Zagreb takes only 12 hours by car! In terms of
locations, we have a rich selection of villas, especially in Istria,
which have
been refurbished to combine modern with Mediterranean elements.
CAPE TOWN BUZZ
Summer Season is winding down. We've had
some
great crews and fantastic shoots this year and will be doing our usual
scouting
around and prepping this winter for next season which is expected to
hum.
Next month's newsletter will focus on Mallorca and
Croatia as
they head towards their Summer Season and you'll hear more from us in September!
SCENE

MOONLIGHTING shot a "Cymbalta" commerical in 4 locations over 8 days. ORANGE FILMS shot
"Stihl and AMF" at Phumlani and Acorns. NAVIGATOR shot a "Vanish" Ad at Waterfall for a week and "Delta Lloyd" at Park House for a week. MIA shot an O2
commercial at Nelson's Eye for 5 days. ADRIATIC (CROATIA) shot a
Porche commercial on the Island Pag, Galeria Kaufhof in Dubrovnik and a
TV show called "A Place in the Sun" for the US market, also in
Dubrovnik. OTHER BUZZ

Welcome to the spiced-up April edition of
Amazing Spaces newsflash. We've gone plush and purple this month in
celebration of recent Bollywood fever we've experienced in Cape Town. |
Bollywood is Big: Popcorn Goes Purple
 Vishesh
Films shot a controversial Feature Film about Indian Racism last month
and featured a purple-painted Popcorn, Funky Town,
The White House
and
Connemara Grange.
The team was facilitated by FilmAd, they were
professional, slick and left no damages in their wake, only happy
homeowners. There were more than 50 people on set at any given time,
including night shoots and we thank them for a most pleasant experience!
Cutting
Edge
Bombay shot a Samsung Commercial at One World, with over
100 people and
helicopters, everything went very smoothly!

Villa Sheherezade
(Croatia)
This incredible Maori style villa
was built some
time between 1920 and 1935 by Dr Lindin, a Lithuanian Jew who moved to
Dubrovnik at the start of the Second World War. It was later robbed by a
film crew who were staying there in the 1970s and then turned into a
casino with James Bond interiors. It was refurbished by new
Croatian-Argentinian owners in the 1990s in Austro-Hungarian style which
gives it a unique and interesting diversity between interiors and
exteriors.

Old Favourite
Station Studio (Mallorca)
White, bright and versatile, this creative space with its newly added infinity curve is the perfect backdrop for pretty much any type of shoot or event. There is even a large range of outdoor sets. Possibilities are endless!

Latest Trends
Soccer Fields, Rustic Locations and Modern-Urban Centres
 While Croatia is
experiencing requests for modern, urban centres, and Mallorca's focus seems to be on Home and Accessories shoots as opposed to fashion, Cape Town has received
an increasing number of requests for school fields in the lead-up to the
World Cup and Footie-Fever!
Also very popular this month are rustic
and distressed commercial establishments, namely Speaker's
Corner, 95
and Gypsey
Rose (images above).

Spotlighting Staff - Cape Town: Didi a.k.a. Kudu
Kudu has been a part of our team since 2005.
She started as a receptionist and quite quickly worked her way into the
shoot department by being efficient and hard working. She thinks out
of the box and is a no-fuss, no-drama, down-to-earth chicken. Her
response times are super swift and she churns through bookings at a
serious pace. She knows the locations well and is our expert on visual
reference. She can be found listening to R&B on MetroFM or watching
TV series dramas and has a closet car fetish - her dream car is the new
BMW X1. Her favourite locations? Strawberries & Cream and Oasis.
